In the Bubble

This is a very hard time for us here.

Ellen is very far from well; she is suffering considerably, and things have been getting harder instead of easier. She is quite weak and needs care and attention most of the time, and we have been advised that she should not be left at home by herself.

We realize that we are very slow to answer the many kind messages and offers of help. The slowness is not lack of appreciation on our part, but the fact that we are simply overwhelmed, and have retreated a bit into a calm little bubble in which all is very peaceful and suffused with love. We share happy memories, of which there are so many, and which include so many happy moments with all of you. And we are in our own little world, each of us with the person we most want to be with in all the world.

People are asking us what they can do for us. This is the instinct for human kindness that is so much of an inspiration. Thank you.

Let us tell you what you can do.

Outside the bubble we live in, we know there is turmoil. Our communities, our country, and our world are the scene of a great struggle which will determine whether the human race continues its progress toward a fairer and more just world, or takes steps back toward darkness, ignorance and violence. We are vitally interested in this struggle, as we have been through our lives. But we are not able to contribute much right now.

So help us, help the world, help the children growing up in this poisonous atmosphere. Strike a blow, a peaceful and nonviolent blow, in your own way, for a better future, for justice, for equality of rights, for the health of the planet.

We cannot answer the phone, or the email, or even the doorbell most of the time. The best way to communicate with Ellen is a pretty written card. She likes them and keeps them on the bed next to her and reads them and smiles, thinking of the people who sent them to her.

While so much has grown weaker, our love for each other is stronger each day.

Please hold us in the Light.

  1. Dear ones, I have been following your journey for a long time now and I am always struck by the peace, calm, and love that emanates from each message. What is this gift you bring to us, that suffuses us with the humanity we all share?

Ellen, I don’t know you well but I feel as though I have walked along the road with you to the hospital, watched the sunlight on your pond, picked your vegetables. Thank you for sharing all of it with me. You uplift the human spirit every day. Luke, your gentle soul reaches across the miles to console us in our sadness at your sadness, and your joy. You are such an amazing man.

Please know that even though we are not close by, nor have that intimate relationship with you, you both are honored and loved for sharing yourselves with us.

    With love and faith,
    Diane and Bob

  3. Primos tan queridos:

Get rid of the bad eggs! Take long walks on the beach to clear your head, and love Porche with everything in your being. We need you so much through these terrible times, and you need to know how much we all love you♥️
